According to a filing with the Global Certification Forum, the next NVIDIA SHIELD won't be a handheld gaming device. Instead, the new SHIELD will be a mid-sized Android tablet. This would probably be the 7.9 inch NVIDIA Mocha that went for a ride on the GFX Benchmark site last May, powered by a K1 CPU. Xiaomi ended up using the reference device for its MiPad.
But there is a chance that the silicon slinger will be offering the slate itself. The company received certification from the Global Certification Forum. The GCF handles certification for devices that use 3G technology.
