At the Android event slated for October 29, the major point of interest has been the next Google smartphone, which is dubbed the Nexus 4. However, as per a recent report, we can expect Google to also unveil a high end 10-inch tablet co-manufactured by Samsung, called the Nexus 10.
As per a report by The Next Web, sources have informed it that Google has been working with Samsung to launch a 10-inch tablet and the unveiling of this tablet will take place at the upcoming Android event where Google is believed to showcase its next operating system Android v4.2 along with a handful of hardware as well. 
Google may also launch a 10-inch high end tablet under the Nexus banner
As per the report, the author states, “Our source tells us that internally the tablet goes under the name “Codename Manta”, runs Google’s new Android 4.2 operating system (previously referred to as Key Lime Pie, but is set to retain the Jelly Bean branding), and will offer a 2560×1600 pixel (16:10) resolution, which we believe will offer around 300 pixels per inch (PPI) compared to the new iPad’s 264 PPI.” According to a recent report, an owner of the rumoured Nexus 10 posted a photo online. The EXIF data of the photo uploaded on Picasa indicates the existence of a Nexus 10. The photo does not reveal many details about the device. The only things we get is the resolution of the picture at 2,560 x 1,920 and that the software version is JVP12C. An earlier report stated that NPD DisplaySearch analyst Richard Ship told CNET that Samsung and Google will soon co-manufacture a high end 10.1-inch tablet, which will feature a pixel density higher than that of Apple’s new iPad. The report had stated, “The 2,560x1,600 display will have a PPI (pixels per inch) of about 299, said Shim. That tops the 264 PPI on the 9.7-inch 2,048x1,536 Retina iPad. "It's going to be a high-end device," Shim said -- in contrast with Google's $199 Nexus 7 and upcoming $99 tablet. But probably the biggest news is the partnership with Samsung. They'll partner with Samsung and cobrand it with Samsung," Shim said. To date, Google has partnered with Asus on the Nexus 7 tablet.” For those not interested in purchasing a high end Nexus tablet, Google and Asus have paired up to release the Nexus 7. Announced at the Google I/O 2012 event, the Google Nexus 7 tablet is not just designed to take on Apple’s highly successful iPad, but it will also pose a stiff threat to the Amazon Kindle Fire. Google aims to tackle the competition better with its pricing strategy of this Asus-manufactured tablet. The 7-inch tablet measures 198.5 x 120 x 10.5mm, and weighs 340 grams. These dimensions allow it to go head-to-head with the Amazon Kindle Fire. The Google Nexus 7 will be the first device running on Google’s latest operating software, which is Android v4.1 (Jelly Bean). At the Google event, the Nexus 7 will come in 32GB capacity as a cellular option. It can take on the likes of the Apple iPad, which comes in cellular and Wi-Fi options. |
