Samsung Galaxy S5 Active has an Active key, barometer

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active that's been the star of several videos so far is back for more. The topic of the first video is the Active key - since capacitive touchscreens don't work underwater you need hardware buttons to operate the device. By default a short press on the Active key launches the Activity zone app. This app shows a barometer reading (note that the Galaxy S5 doesn't have a barometer, the S4 does) and a compass direction, it also has shortcuts for a flashlight and a stopwatch. A long press launches the camera and the key can be used to snap a photo. Those are the default settings though, you can assign other actions to short and long presses on the Active key. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active may also have slightly different hardware - below is a video that reportedly shows off hardware OIS. Take that with a pinch of salt though it does seem more stable than the video shot with the regular Galaxy S5 (the videos were taken simultaneously). According to the same source, the screen size is 5.2" rather than 5.1". A video proving that claim will be posted tomorrow. It's also curious that the Galaxy S5 Active is said to be thinner than a regular Galaxy S5 (8.1mm), hopefully we'll see a measurement of that tomorrow, too. Galaxy S5 Active confirmed bigger display than s5. Official 5.2 inches Video of display test tomorrow http://ift.tt/1tnLoIk TK Tech News (@tktechnews) May 22, 2014 Source | Via (in...
