Android/Chrome: Spots for Chrome is a customizable new tab page, SMS synchronizer, and Android Launcher all in one.
There are a ton of tab page extensions for Chrome, but Spots takes it to a whole new level. It works best when you sync it with your Android device, and each end has its own set of features as well as synced features:
- Android: Spots automatically sends your SMS messages to your browser, where you can respond to them without ever having to touch your phone. It's not as great as our favorite desktop SMS solution, MightyText, but if you just want the basics it works well enough. The only downside to this is that you have to be on the Spots tab page to respond. Spots also works as a launcher with a slide out search bar. You can pull the bar to different lengths to activate contacts search, web search, or an app search.
- Chrome Browser (Desktop): The new tab page has your customizable favorites and recommended bookmarks in place. You can categorize them however you please. In the top bar you can see the weather and time, search for contacts, apps, and google search as well. On the right side of the top bar you'll see chat heads of your most recent SMS communications. You can open a conversation or start a completely new one, and there's even a button to call a contact.
The integration of SMS, search features, and the bookmarks is what really makes Spots stand out. It's definitely worth checking out, which you can do below at the link below.
