A few hours after announcing that it would soon be available, Apple has finally released OS X Yosemite to the public. Download it here right now.
You're going to love it. The latest version of the Mac operating system comes with a design refresh that makes OS X look a bit more like iOS, including a switch to Helvetica for the typeface. Yosemite also comes with a supercharged Spotlight that can search not only your computer but also the web. The Mail app gets some upgrades like Mail Drop which lets you send attachments as large as 5-gigabytes over the cloud and Markup which lets you annotate images and documents. But what's most exciting is Handoff, a slick continuity feature that means you can start a task on your iPhone or iPad and pick up where you left off on your desktop.
