Free Google Cardboard App Lets You Stand on Stage With Paul McCartney

Google's cheap virtual reality solution—a piece of folded cardboard—is perhaps the best thing to happen to VR in a long while. And now it lets you stand right there on stage with Paul McCartney.

An app created by Jaunt allows you to experience what it was like to be on stage with Paul and his band at San Francisco's Candlestick Park. Using footage captured using Jaunt's special 360-degree cameras, you can see what it was like to be in the crowd, onstage, backstage, or even right by Paul's side as he performed "Live and Let Die." It's pretty neat (even if it is a shame it's just one song) and makes the future of gig recording seems really quite exciting.

You can download the app for free on Google Play, then use it with Google Cardboard and your Android handset. There are also plans to release the software for Samsung's Gear VR and the Oculus Rift in the near future. [Jaunt]
