HTC Grip smartband passes Bluetooth SIG certification

The HTC Grip fitness tracking smartband, which was unveiled by the company back in March at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC), has received Bluetooth certification from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). At the time of its unveiling, HTC had said that the $199 fitness band would be available in the United States in spring, but that never happened. However, with the device now receiving Bluetooth certification, it's safe to assume that it would be released soon. Aimed at fitness enthusiast and pro athletes, the Grip sports a 1.8-inch PM-OLED display with 32 x 160px resolution, and runs a proprietary software. It packs in a 100mAh battery, which is good for 5 hours with the GPS on and 2-3 days with the GPS off. There's also an accelerometer, a gyroscope and compass, as well as a light sensor.
